A Total Solar Eclipse Proposal: When the Stars Aligned

Some love stories are written in the stars, and for Samantha and Kurby, their “once-in-a-lifetime” event was a total solar eclipse proposal. It was a day filled with transcendent emotion, cosmic beauty, and the beginning of a new chapter.

The Spectacle Was Absolutely Incredible

August 21, 2017

It was the first total solar eclipse in the United States in 38 years, a celestial phenomenon you might witness only once in a lifetime. We decided it was an event we couldn’t miss, so we drove more than 350 miles from our home in Boulder to camp in Riverton, Wyoming, within the “path of totality.” The spectacle was absolutely incredible. The temperature dropped 20 degrees as the sky darkened and stars came out. It was beautiful, emotional, exciting, and transcendent. As the moon moved away from the sun, and light returned to our small patch of the world, the love of my life got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. What an incredible way to start a life together. The stars had aligned. And I said yes.

An Engagement Ring Written in the Stars

Just as the sun and moon aligned in a moment of cosmic perfection, their engagement ring was chosen to symbolize a love that is equally rare. The ring is a timeless reminder of that transcendent moment in Riverton, Wyoming—a physical representation of a love that is beautiful, exciting, and written in the stars.

At Marks Diamonds, we believe your ring should tell a story as unique as yours. Whether your perfect moment is under a darkened sky or a sunlit afternoon, we can help you create a custom engagement ring that beautifully captures your personal, once-in-a-lifetime love story.
